Eucalyptus Bark
One first happens upon a Eucalyptus olfactoriaely—a cleansing, menthol-infused inhalation announces their presence at an impressive distance. But when close at hand, the Eucalyptus’s form reveals itself as a melange of colors and forms: its canopy a cloud of waxing crescents and its bark an ever-changing patchwork landscape worn by the seasons. This series—Eucalyptus Bark—is an attempt to capture the temporal narratives inscribed on this species’ bark.
Though these trees were once abundant in the Pacific Palisades, many have been claimed by the devastating fires in January of 2025. But, as is their nature, they will flourish once again.
